When Jim Anderson joined the UN many years ago he never thought that he would one day be the owner of the most well-known British shop in the Geneva area, and possibly in Switzerland!
After a career at the UN in Geneva spanning 20 years, Jim took the plunge and decided for a change of career. Impressed by the lengths to which his compatriots would go to bring back their favourite foods from the UK, the inspiration came to him to open a small market specialising in British food products. The first Jim’s (‘Mini’ at the time!) British Market opened its doors on 2nd April 1996 in nearby France and the success was instant due in large measure to Jim’s approach of always listening to what new products people wanted brought in the shop.
The original Jim’s in St-Genis, opened in 1996
Jim then opened the Swiss shop in Gland in January 2012 and has been successfully trading in Switzerland ever since. The philosophy has not changed and a major key to Jim’s success is the personal service offered to all customers, whether in the shop or online.
Jim’s British Market is the place to go not only for your shopping but also to have that warm and friendly feeling of being amongst friends and a part of the expat community.
